How to Enter

Entries for CAT 2014 open on Tuesday 6th May
Carefully read the information below
All competitors must be aged 16 or over on the day of the race.
All competitors enter as a team of 2.
All competitors should give an estimated finishing time on the entry form. To see last year's times click here
The event will be run under STA/BTA rules.
All competitors will be given their race number at registration – this will be on showerproof paper and pinned on front.
Team prizes will be given to the winning Male, Female,  Mixed,  Local and  Junior (under 21) teams
Transition area, Registration and Toilets
These will be close to the Car Park at Loch Morlich Watersports where there will be parking and toilet facilities.
Registration will be from 8.00-9.30 in a gazebo situated close to Loch Morlich Watersports. The first Heat begins at 10am.
There will be a briefing 30 minutes before the race starts. Please listen carefully to this, particularly to safety information and any specific changes that have to be made on the day.
Canoe Section
All competitors are to compete in Canadian Canoes only. We are stipulating this to avoid some competitors with a super fast kayak having an unfair advantage.
You can use your own Canadian Canoe OR use one supplied by us – please make this clear on the entry form.
Competitors using a Canadian Canoe supplied by Cairngorm Adventure Triathlon will also be provided with buoyancy aids and paddles.
Competitors using their own Canadian Canoe must supply their own buoyancy aids and paddles
You do not have to be a particularly experienced canoeist, however in the unlikely event that you fall in the loch, we insist that you are able to swim 50 meters.
In the unlikely event that conditions on the loch are too choppy/windy for the canoe section to take place with a reasonable degree of safety, the canoe section will be cancelled and the event will become a Duathlon. The final decision on safety matters rests with Cairngorm Adventure Triathlon and Loch Morlich Watersports.
Bike Section
All competitors must supply their own mountain bike.
There will be a designated, supervised area for bikes to be left during the event.
It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your bike is in safe working order.
All competitors should carry small multi tool, puncture repair kit or spare inner tube.
All competitors must wear a recognised bike helmet.
The bike section is not technically difficult, however there is one fairly fast, bumpy downhill section – expect loose stones, water, mud, overhanging branches and sharp turns.
The road section is on a fairly quiet B road, (this will NOT be closed to road traffic, ‘caution bikers’ signs will be in place) however please keep in single file – there are several blind bends on this route. Passing competitors is of course allowed, however drafting is not.
Please obey marshalls’ instructions at all times. Be particularly careful at the two road crossing points at Glenmore and Coylumbridge.
Run Section
A straightforward trail run on the forestry tracks surrounding Loch Morlich.
Standard running shoes or trail shoes would be most suitable footwear.
The Finish Line
On Loch Morlich beach, close to the Transition area.
Please make sure your race number is visible!
If you have entered and can no longer take part, please let us know as soon as possible by email - this will free up a place for the team at the top of the reserve list. If you cancel before 31st August we will refund your entry in full less a £7.50 admin fee. No refunds will be given if you cancel between 1st September and 7th September.

Marshalls - we need your help!
The CAT could not take place without the enthusiastic support of volunteer marshalls. However with the increasing number of events in the National Park it is becoming more difficult to find sufficient help on the day.

If you are entering CAT 2014 and are bringing family or friends with you could they spare an hour or two to help marshall? This would be very much appreciated. As well as having the chance to cheer you on they will also get a free burger and refreshments. If you know somone who can help on the day, please enter their contact details on the entry form.
