| This sums up the many comments
we have received about the triathlon. Please log
on to help us make the CAT even better next year. Rain failed
to dampen spirits and more than a few of us had a surprise dunk
in the water on entering our canoes! Choppy waters ensured the canoe
proved more challenging than last year, whilst participants continue
to praise the varied bike route and scenic run.
The CAT would not be possible without the support
of numerous local businesses, in particular Keith Taylor and team
at Loch Morlich Watersports who ensured we all managed to paddle
our way out and back again and provided the well earned burger and
tea.
Local Businesses were particularly generous in
their support by donating prizes and these included Bothy Bikes,
Mountain Spirit, Ellis Brigham, Cycleworld, Cairngorm Hotel, Roos
Leap, Nevisport, Cairngorm Mountain Sports, Cairngorm Brewery and
Extreme Dream.
Other organisations who helped by lending equipment
were Badaguish, Boat of Garten Hall Committee, Cairngorm Mountain,
Carrbridge Community Council and Spey Valley Hire. We also appreciate
the support of local landowners Forest Enterprise, and Pityoulish
and Rothiemurchus Estates. St Andrews Ambulance first aid did an
invaluable job providing medical cover. Finally we are very grateful
to our happy band of Marshalls who stayed cheerful despite the rain.
MEDALS
Big apologies! It seems something always gets
forgotten and those in Heats 1 and 2 did not get their medal as
they crossed the finish line. We did find some of you afterwards,
however if you left before the prize giving and did not receive
your medal, please email
us with an address of where to send your medal to.
PHOTOS
There were at least three photographers on the
day at various locations. We hope to have most of these on site
in the next few days, with details of how you can obtain decent
quality photographs direct from the photographers.
SUPPORTING YOUNG ATHLETES
We had some excellent applications for funding
from young local athletes, however two stood out. We have therefore
decided to donate proceeds to John Rutledge
who is recording some great results in triathlon and Chloe
Robinson who is aiming for the world windsurfing championships
in Spain next year. More info on John and Chloe to follow soon.
